At some point, someone in the family may ask,

     "Who are we?"

          "Where are we from?"

"What was life like for our ancestors?"

Perhaps you would like to find living cousins who have the same ancestor.

This is the starting place for your Jewish genealogical research.

Learn essential resources and strategies for conducting Jewish genealogical research. You may attend all of them, or those most appropriate for your needs and skills.

Part 1 (April 7th): As you search for the "who" is in your family, you'll learn some "why"' you would want to research your family history, some "what" is available to help you in building your tree, and some "how" to do it: how to start, how to go forward, and "where" to keep all the information.

Part 2 (April 14th): We'll explore logical starting points, available resources (online and in libraries and archives), and where/how to find the many Jewish records that exist in the U.S., Europe, and Israel, as well as the myths and pitfalls awaiting.

Part 3 (May 19th): We'll discuss next steps once you have collected information -- how to connect with others who may be researching a branch of your tree, how to share it, plus how to deal with brick walls that seem impenetrable. We will also discuss special resources such as translators and researchers in your countries of origin.
